Cicely Martin became responsible for her brothers at the age of fourteen.  From then on, she was determined to be the one they could always look up to and depend on for anything.  There are very few friends who find their way to her inner circle, but when she meets the Michelson family, an incredible bond is formed.

As Cicely struggles financially, spiritually and emotionally with her mother’s death and her father’s indifference, she raises two boys and somehow finds time to start solving a century-old mystery.

Will Cicely ever find the inner strength that her mother had, or is she destined to worry endlessly?  Will she ever allow herself to have feelings for the man who has always loved her?  And when the mystery deepens, will she continue to pursue it even though it might endanger her best friend?
